Shirley Barrow

The Artist

As a young child the main interest in Shirley's life was art in all forms. She spent summers at Norton Art Gallery in West Palm Beach studying drawing, anatomy and sculpting. She received further art training at Denison University in Ohio and the University of Georgia School of Art, then in the summers back to Norton Gallery. A big love in her life has always been animals, domestic and wildlife. Family members involved in polo led her to do a series of polo paintings and her own horses serve as models for these and other paintings.

Life in the military in many different places exposed her to many different natural surroundings, and in always moving on, she left murals and paintings of the locales. Her paintings hang in homes across the country. Now on her ranch in Central Florida she has for inspiration , besides her domestic animals, occasional visiting wildlife including coyotes, foxes, raccoons, and a now-and-then winter visiting black bear.

In the near future Shirley will offer very limited editions of her sterling and gold equine jewelry and one of a kind equine cloisonné/Limoges pieces.
